Description

Overview

At 252 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 17 miles west of Fruita, or 26 miles west of Grand Junction, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Hazard

Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

Impacts

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Mack. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 1 and 10. Colorado 139 between mile markers 4 and 16.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
