Description
What
Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where
East Central Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico... Western San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
When
Until 515 PM MDT.
Impacts
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings.
Additional details
- At 219 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Tererro and Cowles. - Increased water flows are expected near Holy Ghost Campground. Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and drainages.
